From Idea to Concept to Value
One of the habits and practices that I have adopted is journaling. Now, this is not the type of journaling that happens the same time everyday and is about my feelings and stories (although I am not saying that is bad), it is about capturing ideas, phrases, experiences that I have learned from, and how I do business. I actually referred to my journal throughout the creation of Freedom FastTrack. It was amazing how many of the things I had written gave me the insight to bring the program together in a powerful way.
Journaling was the way I actually created the Freedom FastTrack Continuum, the names of all the processes, the Production Continuum, and many times it was sparked by conversations with my partners, retreats, or reading and events. The important thing was that I was able to capture and refer back to the ideas.
Another way I capture ideas, especially in the morning, is through a program called “Copytalk”. I am able to dictate messages to my team or myself anytime of the day or night and then it is e-mailed to the person that I specified. This is especially helpful at 5 in the morning or if I wake up at night and want to communicate with my team. They appreciate getting the copytalk vs. an actual phone call. I just have a speed dial on my phone and then dictate.
The key is to review and flag these ideas in order to bring them to the marketplace. It is nice to read my journal while waiting for an appointment or while waiting to get on a plane. It allows me to be more productive with time that can easily be frustrating for me if I don’t create these favorable conditions.
Capture then create (value that is).
